Typical controls include critical barriers, negative air machines with HEPA filtration, wet methods, PPE, decontamination, and labeled waste bags going to an approved disposal facility.
The people running that work are usually a licensed contractor / supervisor and accredited workers (MAP disciplines). General remodeling licenses are not a substitute. Some jobs also need a project designer when the work is complex or when your state or building type requires written specs.
Federal NESHAP rules (40 CFR Part 61, Subpart M) and many state/local air boards require notification before certain renovations or demolitions that disturb ACM above thresholds. Who files the notice should be written into the contract — often the abatement contractor, sometimes the building owner.
